Iridescent: Icograda Journal of Design Research seeks multidisciplinary and original research for publication on site. Researchers and scholars world-wide are invited to submit papers and essays under the current themes: Defining the value of design, Sustainability and Design education.
1. Defining the value of design
This broad theme addresses research on the effects of design in society at large. Papers submitted should provide an analysis of practical demonstrations of design's added value to the fields of business, society and culture, and/or discuss how design can improve policies, processes and products within these fields.
2. Sustainability
One of the main buzz words in today's society needs serious research into its implications for design. The theme of sustainability addresses research focusing on changes in design practice and theory in a variety of fields: production, distribution, consumption and disposal/recycling.
3. Design education
Educating the next generations of designers is key, not only for the trade, but for the development of a sustainable and responsible world in general. This theme collects research on the importance of innovation, diversity and cross-disciplinary collaboration in design education, and its value for regional development. Also, we invite submissions addressing research into innovative methodologies and practices of design education, locally or globally.
Iridescent is a peer-reviewed online journal, seeking to publish original and innovative research. Iridescent will not exclude original and innovative research outside current themes. On the contrary, it is an open platform for serious explorations into the discourses and practices of design, and invites all members of the international design research community to share their insights with a world of interested colleagues and readers.
