About the Network
Preamble
The growing numbers of Doctoral and research oriented Masters Programmes in Design bring into being new generation of design researchers. The continuous development of Design Research will surely be driven by these research-focussed students who will form their own research agendas and practices. The evolving community requires a research and discourse culture adequate to the specific epistemological conditions of design, i.e. it values plurality in points of view and in discourses. DESIGN RESEARCH NETWORK is established to serve these needs.
DESIGN RESEARCH NETWORK is an online platform particularly established to serve design research students and is open for all to participate. Design research students are encouraged to take active and leading roles and senior researchers supportive ones.
DESIGN RESEARCH NETWORK is a medium for exploring new forms of discourses, adequate to the social and technological state of the art. Participants might use the platform to store, share and discuss their research results, and to build their own research networks.
DESIGN RESEARCH NETWORK is international in nature but is mindful of cultural differences and encourages diverse local practices. Use of language besides English and form of discourse besides academic are welcome.
DESIGN RESEARCH NETWORK is supported by Deutsche Telekom Laboratories -associated institute of Technical University Berlin- and linked with the European Academy of Design (EAD) and the German Society for Design Theory and Research (DGTF).
