The Faculty of Design, part of the Lucerne School of Art and Design, is the initiator and organiser of the LIAA - Lucerne International Animation Academy.

With many friends and colleagues from the world of animation having agreed to attend, the Faculty of Design is arranging an event from 8 to 11 December 2009. It was a very unique experience to be mainly surrounded by female scientists which indeed led to a different communication culture among the participants. Conversation and discourse was more important than results!
One questions appeared again and again: How does the researcher’s perspective influence his/her research? How to treat probands like ‘research subjects’ instead of ‘research objects’?

On its fifth edition, this years Design Research Conference at the Interdisciplinary Design Institute of Washington State University Spokane (WSU) was entitled “Design and Cultures”. Engaging Artefacts
Welcome to the third Nordic Design Research Conference, NORDES’09, titled Engaging Artefacts! The conference will take place in Oslo, Norway, from 30 August to 1 September 2009 and will be hosted by The Oslo School of Architecture and Design, AHO, in collaboration with University of Oslo. The program includes paper presentations, workshops, tutorials, an exhibition, a doctoral consortium as well as lively social gatherings.
